Not knowing the whole situation, it sounds to me that you may have been hijacked. I use a program called Browser Hijack Blaster. Google those words and give it a shot. Wish ya luck!

Just google the words Spyware Database and click the first option. Then type in hotwebsearch in the field and it will give you instructions to mannually remove it. If that does not work just go on your internet explorer > Tools> Internet Options and in the homepage field, just type what you want your homepage to be. That will not help get rid of the hijacker/ spyware though.

How do I delete something called Soap? How did I get it? What is it? How do I delete it? Or is it something that I might benefit from? It just keeps popping up upon startup and is annouring.

There is an application called Water. If you run it enough, it should remove all traces of Soap.

All seriousness aside, you may be referring to some Adware called SystemSoap Pro. Removal instructions are simple:

But this doesn't sound like that. Didn't know there was an adware variant called SOAP. But why not?

I have a Generic Computer with DDR, computer only beep in power on, i change memories but not, change mainboard, and not, change power and not. Later I saw the problem, it was with chasis and memory pins of mainboard.
I try to power on, but the hard disk have very much problem's, I try to copy data to other hard disk in other computer, but, when the operating system saw the disk it stop completly in WinME and XP.
Somebody can help me! I thnaks very much!

I was using freeware and it was deposting programs and files in my registry that were spyware in themselves such as Cydoor. You don't want that. Be really careful about what you download when it comes to freeware and virus checkers. Also, some will let you check and then don't let you remove them. Investing in a a good virus program as well as a good firewall is a must these days. Spyware can be as bad as a virus.

You had to have used some thing to let you know that you had viruses. If it was freeware that told you that you had them they are not always right. Sometimes they are just tricking you into buying their product.

If you invested a lot into your computer, you should also research and invest in the software that will give you the best bang for your buck and be safe.

Anti-virus software is a must if you use the computer online or are in a network whereas one or more of the computers go online.

i have recently found that something of a virus or worm has come thru email and is removing xls and access documents and leaving randomly named zip files of 34 bytes in the directories it visits as well it has spread to a server on the network

I hope you guys can help me. I'm running IE 6.0 on Windows XP SP1 and my web pages are taking forever to load!

IE is slow to open, but the web pages take even longer. I have already deleted my temporary internet files, temp files and everything with disk cleanup. I have already ran scandisk and defrag and it did not make one bit of difference.

All web pages, menu items, pictures, etc are slow to load and this is the only browser I have to test with.

This problem started after I loaded Norton Internet Security. I love the protections, but this program is really a hog!

I just check and my memory utilization is 72% and my swap file utilizatio is 75%. Is it time to add more memory?

You have various spyware in your memorys and your registry a very good programme to use is BPS (Bullet proof Spyware) this will remove and restore your speed dont blame norton it isnt that causing it.
Try that out you will thank me

I have it too. I has interfered with my connection to the internet....the internet page opens but in a very small inch x inch square and i can't figure out how to fix it so that internet pages open full screen. This coolshader virus also hijacks my computer...it just goes to white screen. I have rune NAV, CW shredder, Spybot and TrojanHunter and it's still there. Yikes

I got rid of it as per above, and everything seems fine now except for one thing: everytime I right-click on a link and open in new window, the new window always appears as 1x1 inch square (nuisance).

How do I control the size of newly opened windows? (I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0). I'm not sure whether this is a left-over coolshader problem or I've forgotten how to use IE to do this (I've tried maximising then shift-closing on a window, but subsequent openings are still 1x1)

If the thing is in the lower right corner of the screen, click on the right side of the window. that should get you a small portion of bar at the top to use to pull the window into the middle of the screen, then you can resize it.

Your suggestion does not address my problem (my apologies if I explained it poorly).

My problem is that EVERY New Window opens as 1x1 inch. I can easily maximise (or otherwise resize) each of them immediately after they are created (in fact, I have to, as this is the only way of seeing any contents), but having to do so for every newly created window is a nuisance. I want all New Windows to open maximised, which is what they did before coolshader got me.

Can anyone help me get rid of freednshost files?? They have hijacked a couple of my favorite pages...I type in the old address and it goes to a stupid freednshost page titled Worth a Look...yet the address shown in the bar is the address of the old page I wanted to visit. It has also tried repeatedly to change my browsers and all other web settings.

I've had worth a look for about a week and coolshader as of today. Can't seem to permantly rid my PC of either. My worth a look is coming in with AOL symbols (even though I know it isn't from them) and links to party poker, tramadol, debt solutions, and a few others. I wish the idiot who created this would get a modem shoved down their throat!!!! Good luck all.

Hi!

I have various spyware and trojans stuck in my c:\_restore directory. They are mostly .cab extensions, but a few fall in the emp part of that directory and have other extensions. Of course, Windows has 'outsmarted' me by not allowing manual deletion of files from c:\_restore, and I do not remember my very old DOS language enough to call those files up individually and deal with them outside of Win. I've noticed that those of you more experienced with security matters know how to run a log file, but I have no idea what this is or how to do it. I have become a helpless AOL user, lol. Please, any suggestions and/or solutions that those of you more experinced in these matters could offer would be so very welcome and appreciated! Thank you so much in advance. :o)

P.S. I also diabled the restore utility to no avail. Still came back as 'write protected' on my virus scan and unable to delete the infected files.

Well Guess Im a member of the coolshader club now also,got it 2 nights ago. White screen 1 by 1 windows the works.Have tryed it all to get rid of it.Norton will not detect.Will keep checking in for a cure.Good luck to all. Cap

Please help !!...my comp locked up on me yesterday while i was online..when i finally got it to reboot...there were 2 new icons on my desktop for some kind of casino games!...i have gone thru the Add/Remove process....deleted...ran my Ad-Aware....clean disk and defraged....the dang things keep showing up on my desktop again !!! I also have something called WebRebates ( by TopRebates.com) in my Add/Remove ....have removed it 5 times and its still there!! HOW DO I GET RID OF THESE THINGS????

It requires editing the registry, which should only be done if you know what you are doing. If you mess up, you can really screw up your machine, so be careful and follow the instructions carefully!

running winxp. frequently cpu usuage reaches 100%. the culprit from task manager is civsc.exe. when ending the process, it goes back down to 2% usuage without any effect on programs. ran sasser, virus scan, etc.....all clean and ok. 'apparantly' from a ms site, when using a usb portable/removeable drive, even when safely disconnecting, a 'memory leakage' can occur???? supposedly ms has a temp patch but cannot find it.....QUESTIONS: permanently delete civsc.exe???? where is the fix file?????? and i could always d/c the usb cable, but a pain....thanks......

I cannot get rid of something called contexual search - it keeps running in the background. I have tried using Spybot and Hijack This but it is still there. Also Spybot detects and removes cool search items but then after a while they reappear. Each time I delete them with Spybot they reappear at a later stage. Any suggestions please?

I have a problem that I can't find an answer too, please help!!!!
I have ran about 4-5 trojan removal and or scanners finding nothing, but this keeps coming up on my screen:
Virus-trojan horse downloader.Rameh.E
is found in file

run avg to remove have done so, but avg cannot remove it so it says.

I have a Dell 4100 series computer and the autoload does not work. When I try to download new software from a cd it will not download. I cannot get software to download through my computer. How do I restore the autoload? Also I have spyware in my computer. How do I get rid of it. I have Ad-aware loaded which will clean it up, but they keep coming back. I also see emails sent by my computer to email address that apparently do not exist. What are my options. Thanks

When I execute explorer, I get a message box that displays:

I can click Ok or the x to make it go away.
What has happened that I now get this. It started Aug 24, 2004.

I'm having problems with my epson 830 printer so i want to uninstall it then reinstall again. Trouble is every time i put the instalation disk in i get this message.
C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft windows applications. Choose close to terminate the application.
Could anyone help me with this please.

I am having trouble within seconds of turning my laptop. I get text box that says Explorer has caused an error in ~7669806868.TMP. Explorer will now close. And it does just that. There is no way for me to shut down/log off with out rebooting?

Any suggestions?

Can anyone tell me what the problem is please?

I haven't installed any new programmes but when I switched on my PC this morning each time I use the keyboard keys the following occurs - I get an extra digit

The capital A is fine but the lower case shows as a1

The letter q comes out as q7

The letter z comes out as z-

The letter I will not show in lower case

Plus other strange hieroglyphics

Hi, I have been hijhacked by the dreaded website viewer, and I would really appreciate some help getting rid of it. I have run spyware doctor and spysubtract, both of which pick up the malware, but can't get rid of it permanently. I also run Norton antivirus 2002. Every time I open my Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, my AVG program ALWAYS encounters 2 Trojans:
BackDoor.Small.3.BI
Downloader.Agent.7.E

I have my browser home page set for www.Yahoo.com; but there is something in my
computer that keeps changing it to about:blank

I keep going to internet options and resetting it, but it is always
changed back to about:blank

My nephew says I have a highjacker; and I have downloaded programs to
remove it, BUT, ...you guessed it...it is STILL happening.

So far, I have run on my computer:
Norton
AVG
AdAware SE Personal
SpywareBlaster
SpyBot Search & Destroy
BHODemon
Browser Hijack Recover (BHR)
Tauscan

Some of these programs have found things and deleted them, BUT, the
problem still remains. Every time I open my browser, my AVG reports
the 2 Trojans, Plus, my browser home page settings keep being changed back
to about:blank

Can you offer me any help? Are there any patches for these 2 trojans?

First off I don't have a solution, yet. I have an identical problem to you and nothing will get rid of these things off my machine.

So far Spybot, Ad-Aware, AVG [including their vcleaner], Spyware Doctor, MacAfee [our hopes weren't high on that one] and SpySbtract had been ineffective.

As soon as I get something that works I will pass the info on.

All Right, I think I can help both of you. I looked in my database for those but they are not there, Thanks for telling me I can add them now. So back to helping you. Just go to spysweeper.com and download the trial version. Then Sweep your systtem when it is done, click next then make sure all the viruses and spyware are checked in the checkboxes. (Your Trojan Viruses should be there) then delete. Once they are deleted, go to Quarantiend and delete them again. That should end your problems.

Okay, no wonder none of these programs help. You may only have one virus protection or it sometimes malfunctions. You can get away with 2 anti spyware programs though. Spyware Blaster won't help you anyhow because it does not remove spyware it just prevents it from coming. Tauscan is just bad, Spybot sometimes malfunctions. Browser Hijack Recover is made for when the hijacker is gone BHODemon is not ver good neither is SE Personal and So you only have Norton and AVG working good for you. So I want you to get rid of Norton and keep AVG (If it's the full version) If you have AVG free get rid of it and keep Norton. Then I want you to download Spy Sweeper by going to spysweeper.com and downloading the trial version of Spy Sweeper. Then sweep your system. Then click next when it is done. Then check all the checkboxes and delete. When that is done go to Quatentined and delete them again. After the go to your internet explorer> Tools > Internet Options and in the homepage field, reset your homepage to whatever you want and that should end your hijacker problem OH AND YOUR NEPHEW IS RIGHT, IT IS A HIJACKER! YOUR WELCOME

can someone plz help me i downloaded a game called diablo 2 and my brother just had to cheat and now i cant get online with it and it wont let me. i believe the the site he went to was controlled by hackers is their any way to tel if their are hackers on here i reset my hole computer and reinstalled the game but nothin can some one help me pleaseeeeee

Keyboard anomaly. I have just cleaned-out old computer for disposal and reloaded Win.XP incl.SP2.
Now keyboard operates improperly: £ sign appears as #, the buttons either side of @ produce things other than ;:~# and of course, I cannot get @ to define Email addresses.

Suggestions welcome. Of course, I HAVE checked Regional Settings to select English UK. Keyboard is NOT USB but the old connection. Thanks. AnthonyRoger

I'm new at this PC.only 3 yrs EXp, Bro's and Sis's I need your help on stopping these popups from zipzappromos.com .. They are relentless, tried everything I could. I dont know why they started ,But I sure want them to stop, My PC is well protected by Nortons, but when I configured them ( parental Controls)to block the site, it still pops up saying that it has been block that I cannot few its content on the screen. ,( which I don't even try.). Okay, this is a very simple solution. There are 4 solutions.

1.) Buy McAfee Security Center and scan for viruses and spyware

2.) Buy Norton Antivirus and scan for viruses and spyware

3.) Go to Grisoft.com and buy the Full Version of AVG antivirus and scan for viruses

4.) Go to download.com and download Webroot Spy Sweeper and get rid of the Malware

Hi there

My computer crashed last week and I had to reset it to factory settings. Since reinstalling Mailwasher, I am experiencing problems downloading my e-mail. It downloads to Mailwasher but when I click on process mail, it is not downloading all of the mail to my mail programme.
I have not had this problem before.
Can you help?

When I start my computer I receive a dialogue box with a heading of RUNDLL. The box contents indicate Error in boln.dll
missing entry:

I also get a dialogue box with a heading of Spyware Report. If I respond yes I think I have been infected with spyware, I receive an ad from Security IGuard to check my system for spyware.

I also have a program listed in my add/remove program properties as Best Search Engine!!! that I can't remove.

Does anyone know how to correct any of the problems?

All I can really say for you to do is the best search engine. Go to My Computer>> C Drive>>> Program Files>>> then find a folder that says Best Search Engine and delete it. If there is no program like that, try contacting Microsoft.

My cd-rom drive does not show up on my computer. Can i fix this? it used to show along with the c-drive and floppy drive, but no more. Please help.

This might work for you, if it does not try contacting Microsoft. Okay, go to start>>> My Computer then right click on the background area and choose properties. When the screen comes up click the tab on top that says HARDWARE. Then click the button that says Device Manager. When that comes up click on the plus sign next to DVD/CD-Rom Drives and right click on one of them and choose either update it or install and that might fix you problem.

i recently found slss.exe on my computer and was able to delete all known associated files but now my recovery program as well as other system programs will not open. also, my cd/dvd burning software will not work, and whenever i try to use one of the aforementioned programs the computer pulls up the open with dailog as if the file type is unrecognized. please help!!!

Hello I'm ew to this and need help. I have a 12 year old who constantly loads games from the net onto the computer for trials. I now have numerous temporary folders that I would like to get rid of. Also every time I try to delete cookies from Yahoo the system logs me off.?????

New poly win 32 pops up as a virus on my Mcafee scan. But Macafee can not delete it! it seems to be embedded in my IExplorer. But it will not let my explorer open, nor delete explorer., can any one help!?

I am receiving korean style email spam now up to 500 a day which originates from anything@hanmail.com the website which is also attached to this irritation is http://ajawww.zc.bz
I have been given some filters to use via mailwasher Pro
which currently work but not very well. These emails are downloaded then subsequently deleted,but i find that when all appears clean, I get caught out when I activate send/receive I get another batch in my mailbox.
I have been receiving these for approx 1 week in the U.K, is anyone else having problems, if so what advice can anyone offer??

I've run sweeps to see if there's a virus.
I reformated the PC and started off with a clean slate.
I checked off the Automatically restart in the System Settings.
...and nothin'. It keeps restarting in the most random moments, except when its on Safe Mode.

So does anybody have any idea what it could be?

If so, please help. It would be GREATLY appreciated!

I installed a usb 2.0 pci card and it seems to work, however, now my mouse and keyboard drain my cpu causing erratic motion. Mouse and keyboard are microsoft wireless desktop models and device manager says they are working properly.
These are not plugged into the new card they are plugged in to the ps2 ports as originally configured. Any suggestions?
Drivers are supposedly current.
What relation would this card have to these devices?
